The Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA) now strongly recommends third party certification by a UKAS accredited organisation for companies who design, install, commission and maintain fire detection and alarm systems. This applies to all fire detection systems from 1st September 2008.

The Kitemark Scheme

Basingstoke Fire protection are fully accredited with a Kitemark licence for its Fire Alarm Systems. This gives us the recommended certification that the distinguished Kitemark symbol brings.

The SP203 Kitemark Scheme is recognition that companies such as ours, who specialise in the provision of fire alarm services, are fully accredited and subsequently competent to carry out work.

The four modules

There are four principal modules that cover accreditation as follows:

  1. Design
  2. Installation
  3. Commission
  4. Maintenance

  • BS 5839-1:2002+A2:2008

  • BS 5839-6:2004
    Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings. Code of practice for the design, installation and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in dwellings
  • BS 5839-8: 2008
    Fire detection and fire alarm systems for buildings. Code of practice for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of voice alarm systems
